Dry since 1919, town OKs beer, wine sales

FRIENDSHIP -- Voters in the small coastal Maine town of Friendship have approved a measure to allow beer and wine sales.

Voters on Tuesday approved a local proposal allowing stores to sell beer and wine -- but not liquor, and not on Sunday.

Friendship residents rejected previous attempts in 1987, 1992 and 2000 to overturn the ban on alcohol sales. Officials say the town's been dry since 1919.

You betcha, Mr. Welch!  The Bible does indeed have references to drinking, such as the time Jesus changed water into wine for a wedding feast....and don't forget the wine that Jesus and His Disciples drank at The Last Suppah.

If it was ok for them, where's the sin?   B^b

OMG SAY IT AINT SO!!!!!

Doesn't the Bible have a passage or two about drinking being a sin? Surely it must!! How in the WORLD could Friendship have folded so easily to all those out-of-state forces trying to change their great town? It's a travesty!
